Janee Monique Williams
Janee Monique Williams has been named 2015 Woman of the Year for her contributions to the DC Charter Chapter of the ABWA and to the community at large.
Janee Monique Williams was born May 25, 1986. She lives in Takoma Park with her wonderful family and cat “Redz.”
She attended John Archbishop Carroll High School and graduated in 2004. Upon graduating she received two awards, most improved student and outstanding in school activities. To further her education, she went to Frostburg State University and graduated in December of 2009. She received a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education.
Janee decided to take a small break and work at Springhill Lake School as a dedicated aid for young children with Autism and Rhett’s Syndrome. She then returned to Frostburg and received her Master’s in Special Education in 2012.
Currently, she is working for Prince Georges County at The Melwood Elementary School, located in Upper Marlboro, MD. She has been teaching Kindergarten for the past 3 years and she has enjoyed the experience.
She has been a member of ABWA since 2007 and has served on several committees. Janee’s motto has always been “I help where help is needed. “
In her free time, she enjoys swimming activities and tutoring young children. In the future, Janee prepares to take a sabbatical from teaching and become an author of a Children’s book. Her first book will be an autobiography about her life as a young child.
She has been truly inspired by ABWA and thanks everyone for their time and dedication. Janee lives by this quote everyday, which is “Do not change so people will like you, be yourself and the right people will love you for who you are.”
